february reflections + a look back at the highlights of the month

as i sit here all cozy and warm on this march morning, the wind howls and the snow falls outside.  we are preparing for minus degree temperatures the next few days, yikes.  and we where wondering if winter was even going to show up.  february has been quite the month. i got in a lot of good times with my girlfriends.  skiing and a trip to missoula to see the shook twins and stringdusters at the wilma.  oh so fabulous.  wintering montana can really be magical.

if you are local and like to cross country ski + dog crick is amazing.  the trees are so alive you can hear them breathing.

i experimented with a fermented black walnut dye.  it was super fun, i collected these black walnuts last october.  put them in a bucket filled it with water, and put a lid on it.  it sat i my laundry room until february 13th.  it was a bubbly fermented pot of dye. i covered it in episode #2 of my youtube podcast, please check it out, if that interests you.  here is my photo gallery.

in the herbal world it was mostly about the conifers.  i made a conifer salve and soaps for the spring equinox medicine collective. i collected these grand fir needles last june, on a mountainside where a crick just tumbles by.  pure magic.  the needles infused in the oil until mid february + the smell was so lemony calming and sweet. 

i had a few extra jars and they are listed here + not sure if they will become a regular thing or not. i spent a fair amount of time working on the spring equinox seasonal offerings, always a pleasure. herbal medicine for the people.

in the sewing room i have been quite busy as well.  working on my stash for the summer market season.  i have been busy with skirts.....yoga skirts and skirts for the little women.

i am really looking forward to spring, planning all the things i want to grow, cultivate, and harvest.  garden planning is so dreamy, and seed ordering is sooooo fun.  i have teamed up with some other fabulous makers, and we are hosting a huge giveaway over on instagram.  it closes on st paddy's day, so if thats your thing some time is left on that. i think i'm ready to close, wishing you all a most marvelous march.  full of new beginnings and warm vibes.  you can stay connected by subscribing at the bottom of any page, on my website simplyjosephine.com
