eco printing + springtime wildcrafting + upcoming classes

april and may have just zipped by with a whoosh, however i am so looking forward to the end of sports and school + i really love the slowness summer can bring. spring has been crazy.  so much to gather, do, and partake in.  my stepmom kathy came to visit, and we did a little eco printing.  our fabrics where scoured, mordanted, chalk bathed, then eco printed, and steamed. we put some of the fabrics in a madder root dye bath.  here is the photo gallery...

such a wonderful way to spend the afternoon.  if you want to learn more about the process. i just finished up episode #5 of the simply josephine podcast, now available on youtube

if you like it, please share with a friend.  we also got in a lot if family time, good ol montana fun.

summers can be dry hot and dusty, with smoke filled air + winters can be long, with howling wind and negative temperatures for weeks.  but spring and fall are pure paradise.  its a hard place to live, i get that.  these in between seasons make it for me, may and september are my two favorite months.

in may i also taught a salve making class at relics retreat, it was so fun.  five people attended, along with josie and her friend.  a good time was had by all.  i am going to teach another class on the medicine of wild rose, coming up on june 29th 2019, from 1-5, at relics.  if this is something that interests you, reach out.  its $55.  the class will include an herb walk, elixir + oxymel making, rose body oil making + we will also discuss the benefits of herbal body oiling.  then we will finish up with a wild greens salad + beverage.  i am so looking to this class, wild roses make me smile. here are a few photos from the class

i'm excited for june, its another fabulous month in montana.  tomorrow i'm off to pick spruce tips in trego, and i will also hang out with josie a bit.  riley starts his first day of work with artie, happy for both of them, to spend this time together. i've just released the summer solstice seasonal offering box, with a focus on summer skin care + relaxation. included in the box: whipped tallow balm, lip balm, violet oxymel, catnip tincture, fir + cedar smudge, 2 bars of rose yarrow tallow bars, and a brochure explaining each item, and how i use it.  these are available in both my etsy shop and website simplyjosephine.com

thanks for stopping by, have a fabulous summer.  full of all the loveliness a summer can bring.  namaste.....dacia
