Hello Hello and Merry Christmas! Oh my has it been a holiday season, I must say my best ever. So it had me thinking, of sharing a few tips. I have attended many fairs, shows, and markets. Some have been beyond fabulous, while others not so great. It sort of goes with the territory. But there are many things you can do and prepare for, to make the process better. First find your market, almost all towns have some sort of holiday happenings going on. Check your local Chamber of Commerce, way in advance. They can usually lead you in the right direction. Contact the people or peoples in charge of that event, and let them know you are interested. Pay and secure your space as soon as possible. And bam just like that.......you are in!
Have a good product to sell, be strong in your craft. Its your talent to share with all the lovely citizens of this planet. You can't be good at everything, so stick with your gift. I'm not saying don't try new things, just try them out on friends and family first. Don't be afraid to charge the right amount, a lot goes into this. Be very clear on price, have a good sign, or price items so people can see them clearly. Signs can be cheap, easy, and fun to create. Because that is what it is all about, creating right? My sign is merely two old windows hinged together, with chalkboard paint over the glass.
If the event offers early set up, by all means take advantage of this. At least get you large heavy items there. I usually go first and do a walk through, then decide. Picture clearly what will work and what won't. Table size, and other display items. Then set up, don't worry you have time, you are there early. Switch stuff around, find the best layout for your "little store". Make sure people can see your display easily. On to ~ table covering. Your cover should come all the way to the floor, nobody wants to see your clutter. Clutter also affects prosperity, in a negative way. Have fun and be creative in this too, find cloths that make you smile, or go well with your theme.
Alright the morning of ~ Take time to be prepared, whatever that means to you. But make sure you have lots of water. Pack good things to eat, apples, bananas, nuts, you know what you like. As for dressing, its good to have layers, because some events are colder than others. You are going to need scissors, tape, twine, clothes pins, and bags. Of course the prettier the bags the better. Tissue paper is good also. You take the time to create something wonderful, take the time to make sure it gets where it is going safely. And have lots of change, I like to start with like $20 in ones, $20 in fives, and $20 in tens. You will have to gage that on the price of your items.
Its also very important for people to be able to contact you later. So if you don't have a business card, its a good idea. Vistaprint is so quick, easy, and cheap. http://www.vistaprint.com/vp/welcomeback.aspx?xnav=welcome&rd=1 A lot of times people will get a hold of you after an event, because they want more!! Yay, they want more!! As far as the show goes, smile, be available, and tell people about your items or products. Let them know what you use them for, what other people use them for, and so on. You are sharing your gift, and making money too. Help them find what they are looking for. Also most other vendors will trade, so don't be afraid to ask. If you see something you want, which you will, ask if they will trade. Most of the time they will. Another great bonus of vending. Well this is all I have for you today, if you like what you see or are interesting in what I do, check out my shop. https://www.etsy.com/shop/MadebyDacia?ref=hdr_shop_menu I create all kinds of goodness, mostly soaps and aprons. Have a very blessed and peaceful holiday. Prosperity in this coming year, and many things to smile about. Namaste.
